The holidays are here and at the White House the tradition continues. The 1st family has received their Christmas tree, the day after Thanksgiving as planned. The tree was said to be 18 1/2 feet tall. They are all thrilled to be entering in the holiday season with things just as they remember them being back home in Chicago. The tree was from Wisconsin because is where the winners of the Annual Christmas Tree Association winners were from. They have submitted entries since 1966 and this year they were picked to honor the White House with one of their trees. The winners were Sue and Tom Schroeder. Sue states "it's very thrilling". She also says "it's the highlight of our Christmas as well". The tree took 20 years to grow. It was bought up the drive-way by horse and wagon as Lotus, Milia, Sasha and Bo (the family dog) awaits. Word is that the staff of the White House traveled last month to get the tree from Wisconsin. It will be placed and the oval Blue Room and will be decorated to honor those families of past and current armed force members. "Blue Star" families in the Blue Room, Sweet! The fully decorated tree is said to be revealed this upcoming Wednesday. First Lady Mrs. Obama will be giving Gold Star and Blue Star families the advantage to see the decorated tree first.
